Cat and Shane Radliff join the host of Conversations in Anarchy as guests for a preview interview about cryptocurrency, community, and the shift from giving everything away to learning how to receive.

Helping build the network

Bitcoin.com came on and sponsored our tour, and we went from meetup to meetup teaching people about Bitcoin. And then we went from restaurant to coffee shop to wherever, trying to spend Bitcoin.

Very often we would show up and we would be the first and only people to have ever spent Bitcoin at this restaurant because this is early, early adoption, right?

This was a major time and energy investment on our end. We were literally helping to build the network. We were showing up. You’re willing to take this payment? You don’t know how to take it. We’re going to teach you. We’re going to make sure you get your first Bitcoin. Thank you for being willing to receive these resources.

Using cryptocurrency as currency

I see it as a currency, as something that should move value from one person to another, from one group to another.

I’ll be talking about some of the practical ways to actually use cryptocurrency as a currency, which is pretty exciting and fun and not so hard anymore.

Learning to receive

I feel like I went from a place where I was wearing a badge of honor that I’m a starving activist, to starting a family and realizing, oh, maybe starving isn’t the goal here. I don’t need to give away everything.

If you guys want to continue to do this and have longevity, you’ve got to start to receive. You can’t just give, give, give, give.

In order to give as a parent, as a member of a society, as a community, as a school, you have to first receive or you will not have enough to give.
