My Potato Earth introduction
Selected excerpts from my opening remarks, with punctuation cleaned up.
Hey guys, I’m Catherine and I’m a potato earther. And I’m totally serious. I know it sounds funny.
First and foremost, I believe this is a virtual reality. We are living within a video game.
It’s a living being. We live on a living organism that, for whatever reason, is in this reality that we exist in.
The conversation
The panel moves between competing claims about the physical world and speculative ideas about consciousness and simulation. Those are different kinds of questions. My virtual reality remarks express a personal belief, rather than an established scientific finding.
The recording preserves the full exchange, including the other speakers’ arguments, disagreements, and questions. Watch it for the context around my Potato Earth perspective and the responses it prompted.
