Choosing where to put down roots
For me, it’s Texas and Acapulco, right? Those are my places. I’m not running anywhere. I’m sinking my roots down because I already found that community. I found two spaces where I love so much the people that I’m willing to plant deep roots.
For me, I am seeking roots in multiple places so that I can have that safety net for myself.
There is no one size that fits all
There is no do anarchy my way because my way’s better. There’s no one size fits all, right?
When I was younger, in my 20s, and I had 24 hours a day to work on the campaigns and to go knock on doors and to hand out flyers and to get signatures. I did all the things, right? I did those things. And then I became a mom.
And the way I began to express my advocacy began to change. I went from front end to back end. I started doing more organizational things and more, for a while, media type things. So we all play a different role in this shifting dynamics in society.
Welcoming people to my door
Now my role, my job, my responsibility is to create a platform and a container for other people who have that kind of energy. I’m working on living the free life. I’m working on becoming an example so that I don’t have to go out and say, hey, hey, you could do it differently.
I don’t feel the need at this time in my evolution to go knock on doors anymore. I am welcoming people to come knock on mine.
